Police Youth Development Pipe Band
Call for expressions of interest from students aged 9+ years, especially those interested in learning Bagpipes or Drums through our free community engagement program. We invite such students to an audition session scheduled for Monday, 17th July 2023, from 5 pm, geared towards complete beginners who wish to secure a place in our Semester 2 intake. All equipment will be provided.
While prior musical experience can be advantageous, it’s not a prerequisite.
We kindly request that interested families register by Monday 10th July, as we have limited available slots. Registration and additional information about our program can be acquired by scanning the attached QR code or emailing our Youth Band Team at youthband@police.wa.gov.au.
We operate from the Instrumental Music School Services building in Maylands every Monday evening between 5 pm – 7 pm during the school term. Our beginner group lessons are conducted by members of the Western Australia Police Pipe Band, free of charge. However, families must purchase specific essential equipment (a practice chanter & instruction book for pipers or a pair of sticks and practice pad for drummers).
Spaces in our beginner group lessons are limited; hence potential students will undergo a musical aptitude audition before receiving an offer.
Finally, we would like to invite families and students interested in our program to join us on Saturday 8th July from 1pm at Yagan Square. This will provide an excellent opportunity for them to experience our band’s performance firsthand and interact with our team.
