During Semester 1 our Year 5 and 6 Roboclub students, who meet on Thursdays after school in the Kwobadarn with Mr Wilson, are busily preparing for the 2018 WA RoboCup Junior competition. We have four teams of students who will be participating in the OnStage Performance challenge of the Perth Metro South event on Saturday 23 June at All Saints’ College, Bull Creek and the WA State Event at Curtin Stadium on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 August. The RoboCup Junior OnStage Performance challenges teams to design, build and program the LEGO EV3 robots to perform to music. This performance can be in the form of a dance in time with the beat of the music or a theatrical presentation that complements the music. All our teams have selected to create performances whose themes are based on the cross-curriculum priorities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia and Sustainability. We would like to give special thanks to Dr Elaine Lewis who is assisting Mr Wilson with the preparations for this exciting event. A final update of how the teams are going will be shared just before the event!
