On Saturday 23 June, our Year 5 and 6 Robotics Club students took part in the RoboCup Junior – Perth Metro South event at All Saints’ College, Bull Creek. This was an opportunity for our students to practise and perform their LEGO EV3 robot performances in front of a panel of judges and audience for the first time. The students have been working hard after school on Thursdays through out Semester 1 on their performances and despite nerves and technical problems did the school proud with what they delivered. The event was all about sharing, learning and having fun and our students certainly experienced that. Scores were recorded and feedback delivered which will be extremely valuable now as the students work on improvements as they aim for the competitive RoboCup Junior WA state event which takes place at Curtin Stadium on the 3rd and 4th August. Our school community will also have their opportunity to watch the performances at the Artopia event on Friday 27 July between 4pm – 4:30pm in the Undercover Area.

A massive thank you to Dr Elaine Lewis who gave up her time to assist in helping and supporting our students through the day on Saturday and also to all the parents who dropped off and picked up the students from the event, assisted in taking resources and equipment to and from the event and finally cheering and supporting in the audience.
