recycle_cellphoneAnswer:  Coltan

This is a mineral used in many electronics including mobile phones.  But the mining of coltan has resulted in the clearing of habitat in regions such as the Democratic Republic of Congo – home to endangered chimpanzees and gorillas.  This mining also drives the bush meat trade, adding to the decline of African great ape populations.  By making sure we RECYCLE mobile phones, we reduce the demand for new coltan and help to save the great apes

Coolbinia’s Roots & Shoots Club is organising the recycling of old mobile phones.

The recycling box is in the Kwobadarn.
